Longevity and Growth: Stories of Dedication at Scenic Pointe

May 9, 2024
At Scenic Pointe, longevity is not just a concept; it's a cherished tradition that permeates every corner of the building. Many of our employees have dedicated years of service to our facility, wearing multiple hats and continually striving to improve themselves and the lives of those they care for. We're immensely proud of the journey our staff has taken, from humble beginnings to positions of leadership and expertise within our company. Their commitment to helping others has made Scenic Pointe a better place, and for that, we are truly thankful.

Nicole Shoemaker's story epitomizes the spirit of dedication and growth that defines our team. Her healthcare journey began at the age of 14, assisting her mother, a nurse, after school. She got her first job at Aristocrat South with a job title as staff support. She was able to answer call lights, pass ice water, make beds, and then help feed people. She found joy in helping care for the elderly population which she never thought would take her to where she is today. Her passion has only grown stronger in helping others.

At the age of 16, she worked in the kitchen, and then at 18, she became an STNA. She was born and raised in Cleveland, Ohio, however in the year 2000, she moved away and landed in Holmes County. She would go on to work as an STNA at the Holmes County home, then took a year off in 2005 to be a stay-at-home mom, however, God had a different plan for her.

She started working for Castle Nursing Homes in 2006. She worked as an STNA for many years then transitioned over to transportation aide for both Sycamore Run and Scenic Pointe, but still continued to work as an STNA. In 2013 she was offered a job to work in the Activity Department at Scenic Pointe which she accepted and loved every second of it! Going forward she took classes to further her education and knowledge within the Activity Department where she became the Activity Director in 2019.

In 2020, she accepted a position in social services and is now the Social Service Director. Nicole believes that if you find a passion in something you love, keep pursuing it no matter what. She would like to thank everyone who has guided her on this healthcare journey. Everyone has impacted her life in so many ways and given her the opportunity and knowledge to keep moving forward.

Nicole's story is a testament to the belief that pursuing one's passion can lead to fulfilling and rewarding opportunities. At Scenic Pointe, stories like Nicole's remind us of the transformative power of dedication and the profound impact it has on both individuals and our community.
